CN Resource Awarded School Meals Initiative (SMI) Contract from State of Ohio
MESA, Arizona (17 October 2008) - The State of Ohio, Department of Education, has awarded CN Resource a contract for up to four years to complete School Meals Initiative (SMI) reviews at up to 250 school districts per year. The proposal, submitted on 22 August, was accepted by the state on 10 September.
In its capacity with the state of Ohio for school year 2008-09, CN Resource will conduct menu analyses for approximately 218 school districts per year, 108 of those being on-site reviews. This contract is very similar to their recently completed contract for Ohio where a total of 512 SMIs were completed over a two-year period. This experience, as well as recent SMI experience in Texas, South Dakota, and Louisiana, provided CN Resource with the expertise necessary to win the Ohio contract.
The staff at CN Resource is pleased and eager to begin work. “Our previous experience with the Ohio Department of Education was very positive,” said Connie Ballard, Director of Nutritional Planning and Analysis for CN Resource, “Their staff is very professional, and they expressed great satisfaction with the services we provided.”
Since 2002, CN Resource has provided assistance with oversight requirements for USDA child nutrition programs including the National School Lunch Program (NSLP), the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP), and the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP). In addition, CN Resource is the owner/creator of CN Menus, an on-line menu analysis program being launched in January 2009.
